Privacy and what this site stores
The calculators on Yarra Course run in your browser, and the numbers you type into them are never sent to a server.
The calculators stay in your browser
The position-size and margin calculators run entirely in your browser, so the lot size, price and leverage you enter are processed on your own device and are never transmitted to us. We cannot see what you typed, and nothing is stored on a server as a result of using a calculator. This is a design choice, not a setting you have to change.
The reason is simple: those numbers describe your account and your risk, and there is no editorial purpose in collecting them. A calculator that needs no account and no submission is also one that cannot leak. If a future tool ever needed to send data anywhere, it would be stated on the page before you use it.
Brokers set their own cookies
When you follow a link from Yarra Course to a broker, the broker sets its own cookies and handles your data under its own privacy policy, not ours. That includes any cookie used to attribute the visit to an affiliate link. We do not control what the broker collects once you are on its site, and we cannot delete or change it for you.
The practical step is to read the broker's privacy and cookie notices before you open an account, particularly if you are funding from Australia by PayID or bank transfer, because those methods involve your bank as well. If a broker's policy is unclear to you, treat that as information about the broker and ask its support team directly.
Your rights over your information and the steps to exercise them
You can ask what personal information Yarra Course holds about you, request a copy, ask for corrections, or ask for deletion, and we will respond within a reasonable period. In practice this usually means an email address and any messages you have sent. To make a request, contact us using the details on the site and describe what you want; we may ask for enough information to verify that the request is yours, but we will not ask for identity documents beyond what is needed to match the request to our records.
You can withdraw consent to analytics or preference cookies at any time by clearing cookies in your browser or using its blocking settings. You can unsubscribe from any email list using the link in the message or by asking us directly. If you have followed an affiliate link and want to know what the broker holds, you must contact the broker, because we do not have access to its records. We will tell you which third parties we use so you can approach them directly.
If you believe your information has been handled incorrectly, raise it with us first so we can correct it. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), which oversees privacy in Australia. We will cooperate with any inquiry. Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Requests and complaints are handled by the same contact point, and we keep a record of the request and our response so the matter can be reviewed.
The cookie types this site uses and the job each one does
Yarra Course uses three kinds of cookies: strictly necessary, preference, and analytics. Strictly necessary cookies keep the site secure and working, such as remembering a form submission or balancing load; they do not track you across other sites. Preference cookies remember choices like dismissing a notice or selecting a display option. Analytics cookies count visits and page views in aggregate. There are no advertising cookies set by us, and we do not use cookies to build a cross-site profile of your trading interests.
Each cookie type has a defined purpose and a defined lifetime. Strictly necessary cookies usually expire when you close the browser or within a short session window. Preference cookies last longer, often up to a year, so the site remembers your choice on return visits. Analytics cookies are set with a limited lifespan and report only aggregated numbers, such as how many people opened a gold margin page. You can block or delete any of them through your browser settings; blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working properly.
Cookies set by brokers or other third parties are outside our control, and their purpose and duration are described in their own policies. When you follow a broker link, that site may set its own cookies for session management, fraud prevention or affiliate attribution. We do not read those cookies and cannot delete them for you; you manage them in your browser or through the broker's preference centre. On this site, cookie use is limited to keeping pages working, remembering display choices and counting visits in aggregate.
How long information is kept and what causes it to be deleted
Email correspondence is kept for as long as needed to answer your query and then for a limited period for reference, after which it is deleted. Server logs are kept for a short security window and then rotated out automatically. Analytics data is retained in aggregate form according to the provider's settings and is not kept indefinitely at reader level. Calculator inputs are not kept at all, because they never reach our servers; closing the tab or refreshing the page removes them from your browser.
Deletion happens when the purpose for keeping the information has ended, when a retention period set by the provider expires, or when you ask us to delete it. If you unsubscribe from an email list, your address is removed from the active list and suppressed so you are not added again without consent. If you ask for deletion of correspondence, we will remove it unless we are required to keep it for a legal or security reason, in which case we will tell you what is retained and why.
You can delete local data yourself by clearing your browser's cookies and site data; that removes preference and analytics cookies set on your device. It does not affect records held by a broker you have dealt with, which follow the broker's retention rules. We do not keep backups of calculator inputs because we never receive them. If you want confirmation that your email address or correspondence has been deleted, ask us and we will confirm once the deletion is complete.
Traffic counts and local storage
We keep only aggregate traffic counts, which tell us how many visits a page received and roughly where they came from, without identifying individual readers. These counts are used to decide which pages are worth maintaining and which should be rewritten or retired. They are not used to build a profile of you, and they are not sold.
Your own preferences, such as a display choice or a saved calculator setting, are held in your browser's local storage on your device. That data stays with you, is not readable by us, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings. Clearing it simply resets the site to its defaults.
Affiliate links: how they are marked and what they do
Some links to FxPro on Yarra Course are affiliate links, which means we may receive a payment if you open an account after following one. The link itself carries a tag that identifies Yarra Course to the broker; it does not give us access to your account, your trades or your personal details. Affiliate links are placed because they are relevant to the article, not because a payment changes what we write. We do not accept payment to alter risk warnings or to remove the ASIC caveat.
Following an affiliate link does not change the price you pay or the service you receive; any cost is set by the broker and disclosed in its own documents. The tag tells the broker that the visit came from this site, and the broker may set a cookie to record that referral. That cookie is controlled by the broker, not by us. We do not receive your name, email, account number or trading history from the broker as a result of the referral, and we do not ask for it.
Affiliate tracking is separate from the calculators. Typing a position size into a margin calculator does not trigger a referral and does not share those numbers with a broker. The referral only happens if you click a marked link, and the information passed is limited to the fact that the click came from Yarra Course plus standard technical data such as the page you came from. If you prefer not to be tracked, open the broker's site directly in a new tab rather than through a link on this site.
What leaves the browser when a broker link is followed
When you follow a broker link, your browser sends a request to the broker's server that includes your IP address, the page you came from, your browser type and the referral code in the link. That is standard web traffic, not a transfer of your Yarra Course data. The broker may then set its own cookies on your device. From that point, the broker's privacy policy and cookie policy apply, not this one. Yarra Course does not control what the broker collects after you leave.
The broker may ask you for identity documents, proof of address, financial details and trading experience as part of its account-opening process. Those details go directly to the broker and are not passed back to Yarra Course. If you fund an account using PayID or bank transfer, the payment details are handled by your bank and the broker. Yarra Course never sees your bank account number or the amount you transfer. The broker is responsible for securing that information under its own regulatory obligations.
Before you click, you can check the broker's privacy and cookie policies to see what it collects and how long it keeps it. The entity that serves Australian residents is FxPro UK Limited. FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK) and CySEC. It does not hold an ASIC licence, so Australian residents deal with an offshore entity — check this before funding. That regulatory status affects how complaints and data requests are handled, so read the broker's policies before you open an account.
Analytics we run and the visitor data we deliberately do not measure
We measure only aggregate page traffic and basic device information, and we deliberately do not measure individual trading behaviour, calculator inputs, or any data that could identify you. The analytics record how many times a page is viewed, which country the request comes from, and whether the visit arrived from a search engine or a direct link. They do not record your IP address in full, your name, your email, or anything you type into a calculator. This keeps the measurement useful for deciding which guides to update without turning the site into a surveillance tool.
We do not measure the values you enter into any calculator, and we do not measure whether you go on to open a broker account. The analytics have no access to the numbers you type into the margin or pip calculators because those run entirely in your browser and are never sent to a server. We also do not set cross-site identifiers or build profiles of your visits across other websites. What we count is page-level traffic, not person-level behaviour, so there is no record of your position size, your chosen leverage, or your funding method.
The analytics are deliberately limited to what helps us maintain the site, and they are not used for advertising or sold to anyone. We look at total visits to each page, referral sources, and rough country-level location so we can judge whether Australian readers are finding the gold material. We do not measure scroll depth, mouse movement, session recordings, or time spent on individual sections. If you use a browser setting that blocks analytics scripts, the site continues to work normally and the calculators still run as expected.
What Yarra Course stores and what it never asks for
Yarra Course stores only what is needed to run the site and respond to you; it does not ask for your trading account, ID, tax file number or bank details. If you email us, we keep that message and your reply address so we can answer and keep a record. Calculator inputs are not stored on our servers. Anything you type into a calculator stays in your browser and is discarded when you close the tab. We do not create a trading profile, and we do not link your calculator use to your email address.
Yarra Course does not store payment information because it does not process payments. Funding a broker account happens on the broker's own site, so card or PayID details are entered there, not here. We do not store passwords, date of birth, address or copies of identity documents. The only personal information we hold is what you choose to send in an email or what is captured in standard server logs, such as IP address and browser type, which are kept for security and troubleshooting. Those logs are not used to build a profile of you.
Yarra Course never asks for your broker login, MT4 or MT5 credentials, or two-factor codes, and you should treat any request for them as fraudulent. We do not store calculator results or watchlists. If you sign up to an email list, we store the email address you provide and the date you subscribed; nothing else is required. You can ask for that address to be removed at any time. The site is designed so that reading an article or running a margin calculation requires no account and leaves no stored personal record.
Affiliate tracking stated plainly
Affiliate tracking works by placing a marker in the link you click when you go from Yarra Course to a broker. That marker tells the broker the visit came from this site, so any account you open can be attributed. It does not tell Yarra Course who you are, what you trade, or how much you deposit. The broker holds that information under its own privacy policy. The marker is a code in the link, not a file on your device, and it does not follow you to other websites.
The purpose of affiliate tracking is to record that a referral happened, so the site can be paid for the introduction if you become a client. It is not used to set the price you see, the spread you pay, or the leverage available to you. Those terms are set by the broker and are the same whether you arrive through an affiliate link or directly. Yarra Course does not receive your trading history, your account balance or your personal details from the broker as part of this arrangement.
You can avoid affiliate tracking by navigating to the broker directly rather than through a link on this site. If you click an affiliate link, the marker is stored by the broker for a period set in its own cookie policy, not by Yarra Course. The site does not add extra tracking to the link beyond the referral code. No financial incentive changes the editorial content: the risk warnings and cost explanations are written the same way whether a link is affiliate or not.
Children, age limits, and how we handle a policy change
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 18. The content covers leveraged gold trading, margin, and broker risk, which is intended for adults who can enter a binding contract. We do not ask for a date of birth, and we do not run age-verification checks because we do not offer accounts or collect personal details. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it. Australian readers should treat the material as educational only and not as an invitation for a minor to trade.
When this policy changes, we announce it by updating the date at the top of the page and adding a short note describing what changed. There is no email list for policy updates because we do not collect email addresses for that purpose, so the page itself is the notice. We keep the previous version available on request if you want to compare wording. A change that affects how affiliate tracking or analytics works will be described in plain terms in that note, not buried in a revision history. Continuing to use the site after the update means you accept the revised policy.
A policy change is never applied retroactively to information already handled under the previous version, and any new data practice starts only from the date shown at the top of this page. If a future change involved a new third party or a new category of measurement, the note would name it and state what it receives. We do not use a pop-up or a forced consent wall for policy changes because the site does not run behavioural advertising. The simplest way to check for changes is to look at the date at the top of this page before relying on the details.
Third parties that receive data and the limits on what they get
The third parties involved are our web host, our analytics provider, and brokers reached through outbound links. The web host processes standard server logs to serve pages and keep the site secure. The analytics provider receives aggregated visit data, not calculator inputs. Brokers receive data only when you follow a link to their site, and from that point their own privacy policy applies. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share email addresses with brokers for marketing.
Our analytics provider is configured to receive page-level information such as the URL visited, a truncated IP address and browser type, and it reports only aggregate figures back to us. It does not receive the numbers you type into a calculator, because those never leave your browser. The web host may keep access logs for security and troubleshooting; those logs are not combined with analytics data to identify individual readers. Each provider is bound by its own terms, and we choose providers that limit retention and do not repurpose data for advertising.
Brokers are separate businesses and are not our agents. When you click through to FxPro, the broker becomes responsible for the personal information you provide there, including identity documents and funding details. FxPro UK Limited is the entity that serves Australian residents, and it does not hold an ASIC licence, so you deal with an offshore entity; check that before funding. We do not receive copies of the documents you submit to a broker, and we cannot access or correct them on your behalf.
